Leona Lewis is one of the most talented singers of her generation and stands lightyears about the far less impressive Rihanna but that doesn’t mean that she can easily cover the latter’s music. For instance, during her concert on July 12, the singer failed to impress with a performance of “Diamonds”.
Sparkling in a Diana Ross-inspired robe, Lewis belted her hits at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre and surprised the audience by tackling “Diamonds”. However, her pretty voice lacked the grit of Rihanna’s Jazzy tone and she even sounded flat during the song’s climax.
What Lewis proved that technical ability isn’t everything and there are some tunes that can’t be covered by other artists, even if those songs were recorded by…Rihanna. Watch Lewis sing “Diamonds” below:
