Did you know that Beyonce holds the record for the most Grammy Awards won during a single decade?
By winning 16 trophies during the 2001-2010 period, Beyonce rose to the ranks of the most awarded artists during a single decade. In fact, her accomplishment has only been matched by Henry Mancini and Alison Krauss, who won 16 titles in the 1960s and 2000s decades, respectively.
Now, this is where the details get a bit tricky, so pay attention. The Grammys honor songs during the year of release. Hence, although Beyonce nabbed her 16 honors from the 2001 ceremony until 2010, the official Grammy website lists her wins from 2000 to 2009 – a standard calendar decade. Basically, the good folks at the Recording Academy just want to be different.
Among Beyonce’s 16 Grammy titles during her golden decade were 3 as a member of Destiny’s Child and 13 as a solo act. Additionally, she later won a 17th trophy for “Love on Top” at the 2013 show. See the full list below:
