Ciara’s fans have resoundingly told her “I’m out.” Proving the previously reported sales predictions as accurate, the singer’s new self-titled album has tumbled out down the US charts and barely scraped a spot in the top 20 of the Billboard 200. Indeed, it’s a sad day to be a member of the C-Squad.
Selling little over 15K copies in its second seek, Ciara has landed at #20 on the Billboard 200. That’s right, the record exhibited a 77% drop in sales and inched to a new total of 73K copies after two weeks in stores. Hey, at least it sold more than its predecessor, Basic Instinct, which never saw the inside of the Billboard 200′s top 40.
There was some good news on the charts this week, though, thank to Robin Thicke. The crooner’s monster hit, “Blurred Lines (Ft. T.I. & Pharrell)”, has logged a 7th week atop the Billboard Hot 100 as the longest-running chart-leader of the year to date.
Additionally, “Blurred Lines” has garnered the second largest radio airplay figures of any song since the launch of the Billboard Radio Songs chart in December 1990. With 197.7 million audience impressions, the tune is ranked behind only Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together”, which topped 212.2 million in July 2005.
