Mariah Carey has proven once again that even after 23 years in the business, she is still ranked among the best-selling artists in the music industry. Indeed, after releasing numerous remixes and videos for her latest hit, “#Beautiful (Ft. Miguel)”, the head diva has scored her 13th million-selling single in the US.
Despite tumbling from #37 to #54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and selling only 34,000 downloads this week, “#Beautiful” has now sold over 1 million digital downloads in the US as the 62nd best-selling single of 2013 to date. The song, which was co-written by Carey, Miguel and Happy Perez, originally debuted at #24 on the Hot 100 before eventually peaking at #15.
Of course, many of you might be wondering if the sales of “#Beautiful” primarily stemmed from the vatious alternate versions – the explicit cut as well as the A$AP Rocky and Young Jeezy remixes, and the Spanglish edition, “#Hermosa”. Well, here is a nifty tidbit: The original clean version generated the bulk of the sales with 832,000 downloads sold to date. The Louie Vega and Sidney Samson remixes weren’t officially released to iTunes and were only available for online streaming.
Prior to “#Beautiful”, Carey’s most recent song to sell north of 1 million downloads was “Obsessed” from her Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel album in 2009. Watch the video for “#Beautiful” below:
