Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP is widely regarded as one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of the last decade, so when he announced its official sequel, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, his fans were whipped into a frenzy. Yet, does the first new song from the set, “Berzerk”, match the hype?
Unfortunately, “Berzerk” takes multiple replays to fully understand and appreciate. Produced by Rick Rubin, the song is beat-driven, to say the very least, much like the material on Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail with far less coherent lyrics. Still Eminem is as quick witted as ever as he quips jokes at the Kardashians and even one of his longtime targets, Kevin Federline.
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be released on November 5 and will also feature productions by Dr. Dre. Listen to Eminem return to the ring on “Berzerk” below:
