Everything Jay-Z does is blown out of proportion and heralded as larger than life, mainly because of the media machine that supports his work. For example, the Hip-Hop icon teamed with HBO for the release of his new video for “Picasso Baby”, which he termed as “a performance art film.”
Basically, various cameras follow Jay-Z as he performs “Picasso Baby” for a crowd of what was advertised as unsuspecting patrons of the Pace Gallery in Manhattan. However, the audience actually comprises several well known media figures, including Rap Radar chief, Elliott Wilson, artists and entertainers.
Still, as Jay-Z described in the opening of the short film, “Picasso Baby” reflects the new age of his interaction with fans as the divide between performer and spectator continues to shrink. Watch the video below:
