By now, if you’re an avid reader of The Lava Lizard, the picture Chrisette Michele’s face and box braids at the top of your screen is scared on your eyeballs. Thankfully, it’s finally time for her descent from our homepage just as Ciara’s latest album tumbled down the charts. Yes, folks, we’re back in action with new material and a fresh approach to entertainment journalism!
After a two-month break from the music world, I’m back with a clearer perspective on how to take The Lava Lizard forward. Those of you who follow my personal Twitter feed know that covering basic news – album covers, new songs, new videos, single artwork, pictures of Blue Ivy and random live performances – has been the bane of my blogging existence. Well, that and the many other so called “journalists” who blatantly tried to copy my work. Yet, I digress.
So, I took a break to reevaluate my commitment to the brand and discovered something I didn’t anticipate: People actually missed the site. For weeks, The Lava Lizard readers have been tweeting, messaging and emailing their demands for new updates and my views on the latest developments in the entertainment industry.
However, instead of news, those concerned citizens of the web have been requesting more feature content, such as Trini Trent TV episodes, Boiling Points and Flaming Features. After all this time of me despising basic news and forcing myself to cover it, most of you didn’t want that information at all. In other words, I haven’t been paying attention to why you enjoy visiting the site.
I have been so out of touch with reality. I feel like Christina Aguilera when she said Bionic was a “masterpiece” and the Lotus album would be a beacon of inspiration for the next generation of singers.
With that said, it’s time for the return of The Lava Lizard. It’s time for The Emancipation of Trini Trent. Yes, I just said that and you loved it because this wouldn’t be a proper piece on the site without at least one Mariah Carey reference.
Sidebar: “The Art of Letting Go” will be released on November 11. My comeback has nothing to do with that. This is all a big coincidence…
Now, get ready for The Lava Lizard without all the unnecessary fat. There will be honest opinions, fun features, great discussion pieces and very little news. Seriously, there are thousands of great sites for the last of those so feel free to visit them or follow The Lava Lizard on Twitter and my personal page for my comments on the daily happenings in the entertainment industry.
With that said, sit back, crack those fingers and get ready to enjoy the ride.
