Jessie J – “Square One”

Thus far, all of the tracks Jessie J shared from her Alive album have been underwhelming at best. However, the songbird found her saving grace on a new song called “Square One”, which is is far better than the fan-rejected “Wild” and the poor attempt at being Pink, “It’s My Party”.

“Square One” features Jessie J restraining her over the top antics as she focuses more on the feeling of the lyrics instead of riffing, running and scatting for dear life. Meanwhile, a distorted voice accompanied by gritty guitars echoes from the background. Why this wasn’t issued as a single instead of “It’s My Party”? I sense the answer was lost with Jessie J’s wig collection.
