Jay-Z and Kanye West have learned that all that glitters is not gold as their ‘Watch The Throne’ LP has missed a chance that the top spot on the UK Albums Chart. Despite nabbing the peak position on the United World Chart, the record was once again outperformed by Adele’s ’21′, which has finally trumped Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ in the weekly numbers game.
The Throne’s collaborative effort slipped to #4 on the UK Albums Chart while Adele’s 21′ maintained a tight grip on the #2 spot. Both Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ and ‘Frank’ also lost steam and tumbled to #3 and #12, respectively, imitating the decline of her US sales as the public’s fascination with her passing has begun to fade.
Other albums that made moves in the top 10 included Beyonce’s ’4′, which dropped from #6 to #8 and Bruno Mars’s ubiquitous ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ at #10. Notably, Lady GaGa’s ‘Born This Way’, which dipped from #9 to #15 this week, has officially been certified platinum for shipments exceeding 300K units.
