Last week, Way Back Wednesday showcased some of the most memorable musical scenes in movies but what about the films that target a younger demographic? Well, the animated features that shaped our childhoods should never be forgotten and this week we pay homage with a look back at those cartoon tunes!
‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Aladdin’ are just a few of the notable classics that many of us remember from our younger years but the music from those films was just as important. So, listen to some of those hits and watch some of the accompanying videos as performed by some of out favourite artists below:
Celine Dion & Peabo Bryson – ‘Beauty & the Beast’ (‘Beauty & the Beast’)
Elton John – ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ (“The Lion King’)
Peabo Bryson & Regina Belle – ‘A Whole New World’ (‘Aladdin’)
Prince – ‘The Song of the Heart’ (‘Happy Feet’)
Samuel E. Wright – ‘Under the Sea’ (‘The Little Mermaid’)
Vanessa Williams – ‘Colors of the Wind’ (‘Pocahontas’)
Don’t these songs just take you back to a time when even the music in animated movies grand? Today, children are being entertained so much by 3D visuals that it seems as though production companies no longer care about the soundtracks of the films. No wonder children think that the greatest artist alive is Justin Bieber.
Which of the listed songs is your favourite? Should any others be added to this shortlist? Share your opinion in the comment section!
