Thus far, Ciara’s upcoming self-titled album seemed barely good enough to be scraped from the bottom of someone’s shoe but she has finally found her saving grace. The catchy and bubbly “Overdose” takes the performer back into Top 40 territory as the strongest new song she has released in years.
Co-written by Ali Tamposi, Oliver Goldstein and Josh Abraham, “Overdose” isn’t for the ladies in the strip club. Rather, the production is perfectly targeted to mainstream radio and has the potential to be a breakthrough summer hit. Unfortunately, “Overdose” isn’t an official single yet as it plays second fiddle to “I’m Out (Ft. Nicki Minaj)”.
Ciara will hit stores on July 9th. The lead offering from the set, “Body Party”, is currently struggling to match its initial #35 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 and “I’m Out” has yet to chart so the folks at Epic Records would be wise to make “Overdose” an album only track to force people to purchase Ciara on iTunes.
