The release of J. Cole’s ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’ is just two weeks away but the most anticipated song from the record has debuted. ‘Mr. Nice Watch’ features the rapper’s mentor, Jay-Z, and appears on the tracklist of the LP in position #7.
Listen to the song below:
This song would have been far more impressive if it didn’t sound so similar to the material on ‘Watch The Throne’. In fact, there is a striking resemblance between the production of this record and ‘H.A.M.’, particularly the buildup at the end.
On the other hand, one major difference between this track and ‘H.A.M.’ is the fact that Jay-Z’s verse on the latter was actually impressive. Still, J. Cole’s bars were strong enough to carry the song and the Missy Elliott feature on ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ should compensate for Jay-Z’s misstep.
