Yesterday it was announced that J. Cole had scored a #1 debut on the Billboard 200 with his critically acclaimed ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’. However, the rapper wasn’t the only Roc Nation act to accomplish make a major impact on the US charts this week.
Rihanna has nabbed a her 20th top 10 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with her new single, ‘We Found Love’, entering the chart’s upper region at #9. Continuing her trend of rewriting music history, the superstar has broken a record set by the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.
‘We Found Love’ has become the 20th top 10 single notched by Rihanna after a career spanning 6 years and 4 months. This feat has registered Rihanna as the solo act who has nabbed 20 top 10 tracks on the Hot 100 faster than any act in history by overwriting Madonna’s record of 6 years and 9 months. The Beatles, on the other hand, maintain the title of fastest act to 20 top 10 singles after they achieved that total after only 2 years and 7 months.
Rihanna is now ranked 5th among females with the most top 10 singles on the Hot 100. Madonna leads the list with 27 entries, Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson are tied with 27 and Whitney Houston accomplished 23. Rihanna’s new album, ‘Talk That Talk’, will hit stores on November 21st.
Elsewhere on the charts, Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ has resumed its reign at #1 on the Hot 100. Meanwhile, on the Billboard 200, her ’21′ moved to #3 with 1% gain in sales. The album has thus far sold over 3.78 million copies in the US and has been certified 4x platinum by the RIAA.

As long as she has certain “connections”, her and other associates will always win. Its not surprising anymore, its manufactured and calculated. When you have blind sheep, it is what it is.
Madonna and the Beatles did it without the help of itunes. good for her but it doesn’t seem genuinely earned. What can we do c’est la vie i guess.
Mariah and Janet are tied with almost everything lol
Congrats to Rih!!! Let’s not bash her and do the similarity thing we like to do and say “well Madonna this and itunes that”. Give credit where its do and keep moving. #NavyorDie!
I saw this coming so Im not surprised. I wont bash her, or say she doesnt deserve it, but the way technology has affected the way we get music, has a lot to do with this.
