As the tide of the music industry continued to change in favour of the younger generation, Rihanna has achieved what many thought would have been impossible – she has scored her 11th #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100. In fact, the Pop star has matched the accomplishments of Whitney Houston in the record books.
Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ climbed to #1 on the Hot 100 this week. This feat has made her only the 7th act in the history of the tally to score 11 chart-toppers and tied her with Houston, who last reached the top of the lineup with ‘Exhale (Shoop Shoop)’ in 1995.
However, The Beatles still outrank all other artists on the all-time Hot 100 list as they clocked a stunning 20 #1 songs throughout their careers. Additionally, diva Mariah Carey is ranked in 2nd position – 1st among solo acts – with 18 chart-leaders. The icon achieved 14 #1 singles in the 1990s – more than any other performer – and notched her 18th #1 song in 2008 with ‘Touch My Body’.

I knew you had to add Mariah in there somewhere.
This is really sad. You better watch Trent, with her sheep on board, Mariah might be next. I really wouldn’t be surprised, smh……
SOUNDS LIKE U HAVE A PROBLEM WITH RIHANNA ACHIEVEMENT… U MADE THE POST ABOUT MARIAH’S ACHIEVEMENTS ONLY TO THROW SHADE ON RIHANNA. HATE CREATES ULCERS TRENT. RIHANNA IS GONNA PASS MARIAH NO DOUBT AND U CAN’T STAND IT. HER COLLAB WITH DRAKE IS GONNA BE #12….DAMN DAMN DAMN
Congrats Rihanna.
The music industry is sadly different now. Its rare to go No.1 with a truely great song. Noverty songs have taken its place. I wonder what will be Rihanna’s legecy?
And how many weeks will this song remain at no.1? O okay. Bye.
Whitney & Mariah >> Rihanna. DEAL THE FUC WITH IT!!.
Mariah got 18 #1′s due to her talent and voice, as well as Whitney (11#1′s).
10 years from Now whos gonna remember “we found Love”, or any of Rihanna’s number ones except “Umbrella” and like 3 others.
Call me when one of Rihanna’s singles stays on top for 14 or 16 weeks instead of 1 or 3 weeks.
Rejoice Rih Stans while you can.
Mariah & Nippy = Quality.
Rihanna = Quantity.
@Jeff
you can’t compare songs back them being number one for that many weeks compared until now. That’s impossible. Back then, all they had to go by was radio airplay. Today, chart positions are based on airplay, digital sales, video view, etc. And with all that going on you will NEVER find a SONG with 14 or 16 weeks at #1 again. The best in the game can’t even do that.
people really need to stop hating and give the girl her props. 11 number 1′s is 11 number 1′s. That’s it. Get over it. lol

no tacky remix no discounts. just airplay and sales. number one next week is on lock as well.
TRENDY is always hatin on anyone but MARIAH….he threw Whitney in for that. BARBRA STREISAND has less than 5 #1s does that make her less than MARIAH…HELL NO….I don’t think u will get a interview w/ Rihanna unless u are just one of those ppl who can hate someone in their face
LMAO at the comments

Listen to Whitney’s eleven classic songs and listen to Rihanna’s and tell me what in the hell has the music industry come to.
thank God for itunes i guess
Her #1s can’t be compared to Whitney’s or Mariah’s, they’re mostly digital base and last for a week or two and 4 or 6 o those #1s are features or had by remixes.
So miss me with that, call me when she has several #1 cds or #1 single or 14 weeks.
Her stans crack me up thinking that makes her on Whitney’s or Janet’s level but congrats.
HAPPILY FOR KING RIRI, SHE KNOWS HOW TO LIVE IN THE PRESENT. AND THE PRESENT IS RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW. SHE IS THE ONE THE WORLD IS LOVING TO SEE AND HEAR. IF YOUR OLD FAVES R GOOD WHY R THEY NOT NO.1 TODAY? KING RI IS ONLY 23 DOING HER THING AND THE WORLD IS LOVING HER. SHE IS NOT THINKING OF MARIAH OR PAST THINGS GONE BY, SHE IS A MODERN HERO LIVING IN THE PRESENT, NOT THE PAST. AND SHE’S NOT DONE WITH THE HITS YET!! SO SIT DOWN JEALOUS HOES!!
Rihanna Top TEN in HOLLAND, GERMANY,UK,POLAND,FRANCE,IRELAND,BELGIUM,SWEDEN, AUSTRALIA, SOUTH AFRICA, USA, SPAIN, BRAZIL, DENMARK, THE LIST IS ENDLESS. NUFF SAID. SUCCESS ATTRACTS JEALOUSY SINCE TIME BEGAN!! GO RIRI, YR DOING JUST FINE. BIGGEST NAVY IN THE WHOLE WORLD SECOND TO NONE.
Whitney’s 11 were good in the 90s, but don’t stack up now.
Riris 11 are good now, but probably won’t stake up in 10 years time.
I don’t think anyone thought it was impossible that Rihanna would get 11 number ones. Fact is she is the artist most
Likely to get any where near Mariah’s.
DMB says: “Whitney’s 11 were good in the 90s, but don’t stack up now.”
Are you kidding me? I Will Always Love You alone has sold more than all of Rihanna’s songs combined! It is a classic song that is the vocal standard many singers has used for the past 20 years and counting…and that is just ONE of Whitney’s #1 songs. You need to be slapped for that statement.
You must have Whitney’s songs mixed up with Mariah’s, now her #1s are the ones that doesn’t stack up now, and neither does Rihanna’s just a few years later
Cograts Rihanna, Im happy for you but really its a shame that she’s up there with the Whitney’s, Jacksons ect. Her songs are just catchy pop tracks with no substance. Its a sad day in music but again Congrats Rihanna
Congrats to the GODDESS of Pop, with the midas touch.
