Did you know that Christina Aguilera’s self-titled debut album is still her best-selling release in the US?

Released in 1999, ‘Christina Aguilera’ has thus far sold 8.214 million copies in the US according to Nielsen SoundScan and an additional 935K units via BMG Music Club for a combined total of 9.149 million. The album is currently ranked as the 36th highest-selling album of the SoundScan era – 1991 to 2011 – and has been certified 8x platinum by the RIAA.

Aguilera scored 3 #1 singles from her debut album – ‘Genie in a Bottle’, ‘What a Girl Wants’ and ‘Come on Over Baby (All I Want is You)’. However, her biggest hit from the record was her first #1 song, ‘Genie’, which was certified platinum.

   This is the kind of music I like from her. Even though she wasn’t happy with her record company at that time -for being manipulated in every single thing- they took her to a whole new level.
   She’s not a limited vocalist like Britney but this music fits her to her voice soooo perfectly.

   Her fans claim Stripped & BTB are her best to date but I think she really needs to go back to this. Lyrically she can do much better than Genie in a bottle or What a girl wants but that music and arrangements is what I think she should be doing again -though I know most people disagree.

   Just because it sold more doesn’t make it better, Stripped is hands down the best record I’ve heard from any female artist

   “best record I’ve heard from any female” you need to broaden your horizons.
   Stripped has her best work but as an album it’s very scattered.

   I still love Stripped better that Xtina’s debut, however her vocals seemes mored effortless. (If anyone gets what im saying.)

   Also, no one is claiming that her debut is better because it sold more…
