New Song: Jay-Z – ‘Glory (Ft. Blue Ivy Carter)’

Jay-Z and Beyonce welcomed their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, into the world barely 36 hours ago and they have already launched the child’s entertainment career. In fact, Jay-Z has released a tune entitled ‘Glory’ to celebrate the baby’s arrival that includes vocal contributions from Blue Ivy herself.
Listen to ‘Glory’ below and decide whether it is a beautiful dedication to new life or yet another example of incredible opportunism:
’Glory’ could either be perceived as a brilliant way to introduce his child to the world or a sign that Jay-Z already has plans to capitalise on Blue Ivy as another venture to make money. That is for you to decide but remember, this is the man who released a line of clothing in an effort to make money from the Occupy Wall Street debacle.

Oh shut the fuck up. He is not Mariah Carey. I doubt Beyonce and Jay are going to go present their child during an interview then make a website with full of pictures.
He is an artist and obviously he is going to make a song about the happiest moment in his life. Almost every artist has made a song about their newborn children.

I usually agree with you but this time I disagree. Their are countless musicians that we know of and don’t know of who make songs that they dedicate to their children or talk about their kids.
I think it was simply a nice gesture from a father wanting to share something with the world. Plus, I’m sure Jay Z has PLENTY of money that he wouldn’t have to “capitalize” off the birth of his daughter.

Well, Game actually did something similar on “California Dream” (R.E.D. album) so I don’t see anything wrong with Jay doing it. I would say that this is showing happiness and not capitalizing.
The Carters are so money hungry which is why they went through the extremes to make sure Beyonce’s delivery date was under wraps and that no paparazzi would see them entering the hospital. Oh how money hungy.

The man is clearly just happy and proud to have this daughter – particularly with him rapping about his parents dying before seeing her and Beyonce having a miscarriage the first time she was pregnant. It’s emotional, and this response to it is pathetic.

I think Jay is at a point now where he’s so happy with his life that he can’t help but to want to share his feelings. And Beyonce’s been on a happy high this entire year, this baby is such a blessing. And they’re spilling to the first tabloid who pay’s up. Expressing it through art is such a great way of sharing it with the fans.

I understand that you have your own viewpoint and opinion, but come on. This song is clearly coming from an emotional place. This man is happy about the birth of his daughter. If you follow Jay-Z at all then you know that he constantly uses his music as an outlet to tell his story. This song is no different. Also, numerous other artists have done the same, so why should Jay come under fire for it? Again, you have your right to an opinion, but at least let this family just be happy about their new arrival however they want to be. No need to question anyone motives behind anything.

Personally I don’t see anything wrong with it. I liked the song it was cute, I don’t see why people are mad about the article because it was clearly neutral. You brought up a good debate and people are getting personal for no reason. i think we have become a very cynical world and we are very cynical towards those that are wealthy. we critique everything they do and we see ulterior motives behind every action. sometimes we need to put ourselves in their shoes how would an artist express his great joy at the birth of his daughter???
While it is true that Trent left it up to the readers to decide, he did advise the readers to keep in mind of Jay’s OWS blunder. That was sheer persuasive technique. I don’t know about anyone else, but to me this implies that Trent either is trying to persuade the reader that Jay is opportunistic or that he, himself, really thinks that Jay is opportunistic due to Jay’s history of poor judgement.
He could have left the OWS situation out of it. Or he could’ve left the opportunistic aspect out of the entire post because it’s absolutely unnecessary. But can a genuinely nice, shade-free Beyoncé-related post ever exist on this site? Nope.
