Burning Up: Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks.

Earlier this year, Burning Up featured Iggy Azalea as a new artist to watch but there is another female Hip-Hop artist who has been garnering equal if not greater attention on the blogosphere. That rapper is none other than Azealia Banks.

Set to release her debut album, ‘Broke with Expensive Taste’, via Interscope Records in the fall, Banks has become an online sensation, thanks to her breakthrough single, ’212 (Ft. Lazy Jay)’. However, as is the custom in Hip-Hop, Banks has been embroiled in a feud with Azalea, despite their similar names.

Unlike the sexually charged Azalea, Banks has the rhythm of a battle rapper and the vivaciousness of a crossover act; similar to Kanye West. Indeed, there is something quite intriguing about her style and although she does in fact address adult themes, she doesn’t present herself like her X-rated peer.

   I think she’s great. Only problem is, sometimes the beat is so heavy on her songs I can’t hear what she is saying. Much better than Iggy though.
