Rita Ora expressed excitement for her ‘R.I.P.’ video but has the clip matched the hype? Well, we’re about to find out because the visual, which was directed by Emil Nava and features Tinie Tempah, has premiered.
‘R.I.P.’ is Ora’s official debut single in the UK. However, she previously topped the Official UK Singles Charted as a guest act on DJ Fresh’s ‘How Right Now’. Watch the video for Ora’s ‘R.I.P.’ below:
Remember when I stated that Ora and Rihanna are too similar? This ‘R.I.P.’ video proved that point and provided several examples – clothing, wining and even makeup.
Nobody is debating whether Ora is simply being herself or seeking to copy Rihanna but in an era where the latter is a dominant act, having a similar style would only her Ora’s cause. On the bright side, Ora could actually sing!
You’re right there are some similarities and it sucks having to change being yourself because there’s someone dominant in the game that has your same style (kinda). Rita looks more natural in my opinion. I don’t think she should change her hair and make-up because Rihanna already changed (it was only a matter of time). Maybe she should go for the Marilyn Monroe, Gwen Stapani type looks when it comes to her wardrobe. I don’t know what else she can do but yeah at least she can sing.
[...] [Video] Rita Ora “RIP” ft. Tinie Tempah Published on April 4th, 2012 Did Rita Ora Deebo Rihanna for the blond hair? Either way this Roc Nation diva is on her way and Rihanna’s spot ain’t safe. Her is Rita’s debut single featuring Tinie Tempah. [TheLavaLizard] [...]
Honestly if this is how rocnation is going to put her out then she will probably not go anywhere. This is literally Rihanna. She’s doing nothing more than sexy poses and looking pretty. I’m curious to see what she can do live.
wow she mirrors Rihanna in this video……. not a good thing ! She has talent tho, but Roc Nation needs to make her stand out and not seems like a Riri clone.
jay-z wack for letting her do this seriously i don’t need another rihanna she need to get her own look.
I can see the Rihanna comparisons as far as looks. They do need to separate the two cuz Rita Ora has raw talent. She can saaang live too.
I agree with the 6 comments above me. Roc Nation is using that same formula that made rihanna famous. However, they needed to use that formula for rihanna b/c she lacks vocal ability. Rita Ora can actually sing so why not move in a different direction. Yes she can be edgy but why not showcase her singing abilities too. You already have someone doing the whole “urban pop” thing. Rita voice would be great for R&B/Rock similar to Pink. Roc nation is like every other label out there who only care about quantity not quality.
Rita really got yall pressed huh? Girl, Rihanna career was based of Beyonce… why is this so shocking and upsetting to you, honestly its called Karma.
I like her….she can sing.
Roc Nation is knocking down her dominoes before she can even set them up. She won’t be successful if she doesn’t stand out. Even if she doesn’t change her style, she needs to find a sound that is unique to her because at this point, she just comes across as a copy; a guinea pig for RN’s female pop star formula. Record labels need to learn that formulas don’t work when the public becomes aware that there is one.
Great voice, beautiful girl. I reckon this is her just being her. I think you all are right though – the fault lies in her label. This stuff isn’t groundbreaking or new. I don’t see it standing out in the crowd of generic pop music at the moment.
It’s a shame that she may walk in Rihanna’s shadow – this song was actually written for Rih! – but we’ll see what Rita’s debut album brings.
wow she really looks like Rihanna. she sounds good but that song was just ok.
This was Rita’s style before she signed to Roc. It sucks that Rihanna took it and made it main stream before Rita had the chance.
