Did you know that Nelly’s hit song ‘Grillz’ was based on a sample of Destiny’s Child’s ‘Soldier’?
Released in 2005, ‘Grillz’ featured rappers Paul Wall, Ali and Gipp. The song was produced by Jermaine Dupri and featured a sample of Destiny’s Child’s ‘Soldier’, which was a hit just a year prior in 2004. The sample included both a melody and lyrics from the original tune.
‘Grillz’ peaked at #1 on the Hot 100 and #24 on the Official UK Singles Chart. Watch the video for the song below:
