I love that Queen Latifah never prefaced her success with, “I’m the first female rapper to…”
Even though she was the 1st first female rapper to grace Cover Girl, have makeup and clothing line, movies, Jazz album, sitcom (Living Single was created around Queen Latifah’s popularity). More importantly, Queen Latifah is respected for her work because grew without selling out. Even her Jazz album doesn’t feel like a sell-out per se.
DING DING!!
