Tony Bennett is always eager to work with singers from across the industry as he updates the classic Jazz, Pop and Swing standards of his catalogue. For his latest collaboration, the icon has teamed with Christina Aguilera on the song ‘Steppin’ Out with My Baby’ for his new ‘Viva Duets’ album.
Yet, this isn’t the first time that Bennett has sung ‘Steppin’ Out with My Baby’ with Aguilera. The duo performed the tune live on many occasions, including at the 2007 Emmy Awards ceremony. How does the recorded version of ‘Steppin’ Out with My Baby’ measure up? Listen to it below:
Bennett performed ‘Steppin’ Out with My Baby’ almost as good as he did in the the past but Aguilera really stole the show here. Despite the fact that it was a clear struggle for her not to unleash a barrage of riffs and runs on the track, the final product depicts a relaxed singer in her element.
Indeed, songs like ‘Stepping Out with My Baby’ showcase Aguilera’s voice in the best light. She still has a lot to learn about phrasing – extending a syllable with 16 notes isn’t always needed – but the most important point is that she has the potential to grow if she is willing to set her ego aside.

It sounds good
But Christina kind of sounds like Gaga here :/
You’re right. She struggles so hard not to overdo like she always does. Really not like a single but it’s ok
LOFL wow you are a strong hater.
Wow she does sound amazing here. I wish she did this more often.
she sounds so beautiful when shes not screaming. luv it
She has an amazing voice. Her tone here is great.
I’m glad you read my comment, and correct you’re article, you didn’t need to delete it, like in past already few times!
This was surprisingly quite a pleasant listen. I’m used to hearing Christina growling and running and riffing all over a track so this was nice for once.
Mariah should really do a jazz album. Christina sounded good here. A jazz duet between the two would great.
It’s hilarious to see a Mariah fan talk about anyone and their voice. Tini Girl stop it!
i think she sounds crazy-cool here.
sorry to bring mariah into this but i thought her duet with tony bennet was awfully underwhelming, which is a big shame tbh. much prefer this and im not that big of a fan of xtinas
