The US charts are often a grim sight for true music lovers but this week they were treated to a glimmer of hope. Two of the most exciting artists in the industry today – Miguel and Adele (their names rhyme!) – stormed the Billboard rankings with their latest offerings and proved that their is still a market for real talent.
Miguel’s ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ album blasted pass earlier sales predictions by selling over 71K copies in the US this week and debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200. In case you didn’t notice, the LP sold 60K additional units compared to the first week sales of his previous effort, ‘All I Want Is You’, which entered the line at #37 with 11K copies sold in December 2010.
Meanwhile, over on the Billboard Hot 100, Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ brought the house down at #8. After only 72 hours of availability in the US, the song sold a staggering 261K digital copies, thus earning the singer her first top 10 debut. Compare that to the #13 and #16 starts of Ke$sha’s ‘Die Young’ and Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds‘, respectively, on last week’s chart ranking.

Stans about to be real salty!
I have to say, Adele doing Skyfall for the Bond soundtrack was a really good look. Her management was smart on this one, but her management has been really great for a while now.
It’s so good to see that most of those songs aren’t dance oriented.
there is* lol congrats to both of them
