Last week, images from the ‘We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston’ special were released and now we have footage of one of performances. Thanks to a crafty agent who snuck a camera into the event, Usher’s rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Believe in You & Me’ has hit the web.
Dressed in surprisingly casual attire for the tribute to the late Houston, Usher sang an altered version of ‘I Believe in You & Me’ as pictures of the diva flashed behind him. Unfortunately, just like his messy clothes, Usher’s performance simply missed the mark.
Watch Usher perform at the ‘Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston’ show below:
Knowing Usher’s range and remarkable skill as a vocalist, this ‘I Believe in You & Me’ showing as definitely below his standard. His runs and tone during the verses was good but he lost his stride during the climax and avoided the high notes that he could have easily hit. Perhaps Usher was just having an off day, but it would have been great to see him try just a bit harder.

Yea, I was disappointed when he went into his falsetto(which can barely be heard) instead of staying in his chest voice during the climax.
I like his take on it. In many ways Usher can do no wrong vocally unless he’s doing 10,000 dance steps in between
He did good in parts, but he shouldn’t have changed certain notes to the falsetto notes.
That was beautiful. Man I love Usher
I wouldn’t necessarily call it messy…just a bit to safe for my taste. This is a big song and wished this was one of the songs Jennifer Hudson performed…though I’m not a big fan. Ew…or maybe LeonaLewis (damn I love her)
