Ahead of her performance at the 2012 American Music Awards this evening, Christina Aguilera appeared on the November 16th episode of ‘Dateline’ to further promote her ‘Lotus’ album. However, during the 14-minute segment, spoke about much more than just new music.
Aguilera shared details about her traumatic childhood and explained how her inspirations, such as Etta James and Julie Andrews, influenced her to channel that pain into her artistry. Also, Aguilera chatted about her role on ‘The Voice’ and how she balances it with motherhood.
In related news, Aguilera recently announced that the next single from her ‘Lotus’ album will be the ‘Just a Fool’ duet with Blake Shelton. She also mentioned that song as well as her catastrophic ‘Make the World Move’ performance with Cee Lo Green to ‘Dateline’. Watch her entire segment below:

When did this air? Damn, either I’m a bad stan or she’s just not promoting anything this era. A facebook mention would have been nice Christina…sigh. Great interview though, her son is too cute.
I don’t want to listen to the interview. I’m scared that if I do, I’ll find that the screaming has changed her speaking voice.
I wish she’d take better care of that voice; at one point, she could have rivaled Mimi or Nippy. Now, all that potential is lost.

she honestly needs more interviews like this. break down that wall that was built up over the years and reintroduce people to the women she’s become. you watch this and it pushes back against people who want to say she’s cold or bitchy.
