Chrisette Michele’s fans were only treated to her ‘Audrey Hepburn: An Audiovisual Presentation’ mixtape last week but this is the season of giving and she has given them even more new material. The song ‘Better’ has appeared online as part of the ‘Motown Music Sampler Vol. 1′ set.
‘Better’ is also the title of Michele’s upcoming studio album, which will be released in early 2013. During my recent interview with the songbird, she shed light about the sound of LP:
['Audrey Hepburn'] is inspired by Hip-Hop, Jazz and R&B but ['Better'] is a fusion of those four sounds. It’s actually a positive and upbeat. Yet, ‘Better’ is a more hopeful album because I am a hopeful romantic.

As usual, Michele’s vocal performance is fantastic on ‘Better’! The influence of Sara Vaughan are evident in her phrasing and she combines her Jazz background with the structure of this R&B ballad. If ‘Better’ will appear on Michele’s album then she is already a frontrunner for the 2014 Grammy Awards!
