    Global Charts: Lil Wayne Rules The World

    Written by Trent | Filed under Adele,Amy Winehouse,Beyonce,Bruno Mars,Charts,Christina Aguilera,David Guetta,Eminem,Game,Jay-Z,Kanye West,Katy Perry,Lady GaGa,Nicki Minaj

    Lil Wayne shocked his naysayers earlier this week when his ‘Tha Carter IV’ album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and now he has topped the United World Chart. The rapper, who recently scored 18 nominations at 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards, may have missed the 1 million mark in the US but he easily outsold that figure worldwide.

    ‘Tha Carter IV’ entered the chart with 1.03 million copies sold. This marks Lil Wayne’s second highest first week sales behind the 1.05 million of his ‘Tha Carter III’ in 2008. However, the sales of ‘Tha Carter IV’ are far from the being the largest of 2011 as Lady GaGa’s ‘Born This Way’ sold over 1.92 million units in May.

    Elsewhere, Adele’s ’21′ held the #3 spot after garnering this week’s largest sales increase – a staggering 34% – and selling another 314K copies. As the year’s top-selling album, ’21′ has now sold over 9.58 million units in just 32 weeks.

    Check out the the lineup of the leading Urban/Pop albums and tracks in the world below:

      Good for Wayne but isnt 1.03m 1,000,030,000? I wouldn’t say that was EASILY surpassing the 1m mark lol and as for Gaga without that sly Amazon 99 cents deal she only sold 600k 1st week, considering her album has still only sold just over 4m i wouldn’t say she’s dominating anything tbh.

      Gaga 2 top ten singles, making history tying with mariah with more consecutive top tens than anyone. And even without the amazon deal, Gaga would have still sold well over a million first week, she received full price for each album and has gained more fans, those that maybe at first wouldn’t think of paying for a Gaga album full price. There..you…go!!

      @ThatBoyLuke Gaga sold 2 Million the first week WORLDWIDE. 1 Million in the US and 1 Million globally. Only 400k was purchased for .99c. Honestly even is the amazon deal wasn’t going on she still would have sold those albums. Adele is dominating record sales at the moment but Gaga is 2nd after her followed by Rihanna,Katy Perry, & Taylor Swift. Gaga has more power in the Industry, she has all twitter followers, facebook likes, youtube views, & shes the most downloaded artist in history….etc

      Pop Culture – Unless you’re counting overall, Katy has sold more records (albums + singles) than Gaga this era with 34.3 million records sold, I doubt Gaga has surpassed her because her era started about 4 months ago, and her single sales – apart from Born This Way – are not impressive. She can have those Facebooks likes and Twitter followers because I know her monsters make duplicate accounts, ki.

      Also, I am extremely disappointed that Wayne was able to sell what Watch The Throne sold thus far, in one week, with that shitty ass album. If Kanye/Jay-Z would have released more mainstream songs like Why I Love You or Niggas In Paris (which is already blowing up the streets) as singles their album would have sold much more.

      @Wayno the term HATER is overly used and often misused. How am I hating on Wayne? So having doubts about something is hating? Not liking an album is hating? NO that’s called having my OWN opinion. A hater is someone who ALWAYS has something negative to say about an individual no matter what it is because they just DONT like that individual. I’d be a hater if I commented on Every wayne post saying “this nigga is wack…he is overrated….he ain’t shit and will never be” that’s a hater.

      @Matt & @PopCultureIsMyReligion

      I wasn’t talking about what Gaga sold GLOBALLY 1st week I was talking about what she sold in the US 1st week, Yes Gaga got the full price for the album but by selling it at 99 cents she sold more than she would have and wern’t they giving away something else with that deal, something unrelated to Gaga?! hmm….
      Without the deal she would have sold 600k (which is still good) but the fact that after all this time her album has only sold just over 4m shows that she isn’t running anything, the fact that the blogs and media lick her ass is missleading when it comes to actual sales.

      Rihanna’s “LOUD” has sold 5m, Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” has sold 6m and Adele’s “21″ has sold 9m+

      Adele is the only real album seller, Rih and Katy released there albums last year so cannot be compared to Gaga’s which was released 6-8 months after, plus the only real mega hit was Born This Way. With Katy and Rihs number one smashes they should have sold way more than what they have

      LOL Gaga only outsold Rihanna’s singles, four of Katy’s FIVE No1′s “Callifornia Gurls ” (5x Platinum), “Teenage Dream” (4x Platinum), “Firework” (4x Platinum), “E.T” (4x Platinum) outsold “BTW” which sold just over 3m.

      [...] Last week’s leader, Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’, exhibited a sales dip similar to its performance on the Billboard 200 and plummeted by over 75%. Nonetheless, the LP sold another 256K at #2 for a total of 1.29 million after only 2 weeks. [...]
