Jessie J channels her inner Katy Perry on a new song entitled ‘Domino’. Produced by Dr. Luke, the track was recorded during her recent studio sessions for her a new album due later this year.
Listen to ‘Domino’ below:
Many people may rightfully regard this track as a direct imitation of the work that Dr. Luke has done for Perry but this is the type of sound that Jessie needs to make an impact on the US charts. The material on her ‘Who You Are’ album was vocally and lyrically impressive but it’s definitely not marketable beyond the UK.
Furthermore, ‘Domino’ gives us the chance to hear Jessie singing a song without a overindulging in vocal runs and staccato that sound as though she was having some kind of epileptic fit. I enjoy the extra dramatics but the average listener won’t understand. Ever wonder why Rihanna is excelling with her one note songs while Christina Aguilera is struggling? Think about it.
