Did you know that before Toni Braxton launched her solo career she was a member of a group with her four sisters called The Braxtons?
Now famous for their hit reality show, ‘Braxton Family Values’, the five siblings formerly comprised a girl group. However, after releasing only one single, entitled ‘The Good Life’, via Arista Records in 1990, the sisters were released from their contract with the label.
However, the group was used as a foundation for Toni’s career as she was soon discovered by LA Reid and Babyface who signed her as the flagship artist of LaFace Records. The remaining sisters then served as Toni’s backup singers and although three of the siblings – Tamar, Trina and Towanda – tried to release an album, called ‘So Many Ways’, as a group in 1996, they found little success on the charts.
