Katy Perry’s latest single, ‘The One That Got Away’, slipped out of the Billboard Hot 100′s top 10 this week, thus ending her chances of breaking Michael Jackson’s record of 5 #1 songs from a single album. However, instead of moving on to another project or taking a break from the music scene, the Pop star has opted to rerelease her ‘Teenage Dream’ LP as ‘The Complete Confection’.
Set to debut on March 27th, the repacked ‘Teenage Dream’ will include 12 songs from the original set as well as 3 new tracks. Additionally all of the notorious remixes of her previously released tunes, such as the acoustic version of ‘The One That Got Away’, will appear on ‘Confection’.
Perry scored 5 consecutive #1 songs on the Hot 100 from her ‘Teenage Dream’ album and earned the distinction as being the only female artist to accomplish that feat and tied Jackson’s longstanding record, which he set with his ‘Bad’ LP in 1988. Moreover, she became the first artist in the history of the chart to remain in the top 10 for more than a year.
Read what Perry had to say about her amazing achievements below:
“This is the complete story of ‘Teenage Dream’. It was an incredible honor to tie the King of Pop’s Billboard Hot 100 record, but I’m moving forward and had a few things left to get off my chest. So this is the complete special edition of my album for my fans.”
I wonder: if Perry lands another #1 song from ‘Confection’ then would it count as her 6th #1 single from ‘Teenage Dream’? If that is indeed the case then that might cause the biggest uproar amongst the music critics since Rihanna notched her 11th #1 song with ‘We Found Love’.
