Today is March 26th and Trey Songz has a new song on the airwaves. Crafted by Rico Love and Benny Blanco, ‘Heart Attack’ is the first release from Songz’s upcoming ‘Chapter V’ album, which will hit stores later this spring.
Songz previously assured his fans that ‘Chapter V’ would reflect his artistic journey as he seeks to develop his skill as a songwriter and artist. So, did ‘Heart Attack’ accomplish that goal? Listen to the tune below and decide for yourself:
Clearly geared toward Urban radio, ‘Heart Attack’ is neither dull or exciting. Indeed, the song is not horrible but it is not amazing; it is just good and hardly reflective of an artist like Songz, who is on his fifth album.
Artists at similar stages in their careers to Songz usually take serious risks as they attempt to craft their own niche in the industry. Yet, ‘Heart Attack’ is quite safe and simply good. If this is reflective of who Songz truly is as an artist then that should explain why he usually sings about his penis – it’s probably more interesting than anything else he has to offer.
