Did you know that Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’ is the first song by a female artist to sell over 7 million downloads in the US?
‘Rolling in the Deep’ extended its lead as the best-selling digital single by a female artist in the US this week when it topped 7 million in digital sales. It is the only the second song in in US history to pass the 7-million mark, following the Black Eyed Peas’ ‘I Gotta Feeling’, which has sold 7.89 million downloads since May 2009.
However, Adele’s ‘Rolling in the Deep’ topped 7 million in sales after only 67 weeks whereas ‘I Gotta Feeling’ took 93 weeks to reach that point. Also, ‘Rolling in the Deep’ has nabbed the title of being the third longest-running song on the Billboard Hot 100 with 67 weeks on the chart. Only Jason Mraz’s ‘I’m Yours’ (76 weeks) and LeAnn Rimes’ ‘How Do I Live’ (69 weeks) remained on the listing for longer periods.
