Originally called Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female, the Best Female Rock Vocal Performance trophy was first presented at the 1980 Grammy ceremony. Although the field would later be dominated by white artists, Summer was the first woman to nab the honor with her monster hit ‘Hot Stuff’.
