Adele never truly lost her grip of the United World Chart’s top spot; she simply took a break. The British Soul singer’s ’21′ album has returned to the chart summit for a 22nd week and quickly ended the reign of Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’.
’21′ sold 285K copies this week after experiencing a minor 9% sales decline. The record has now sold over 9.87 million copies in just 33 weeks and is the bestselling album of 2011 thus far in the US, UK and on the general world chart. The record’s lead single, ‘Rolling In The Deep’, has also accomplished a new milestone as it has now sold over 8.12 million copies worldwide.
Last week’s leader, Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’, exhibited a sales dip similar to its performance on the Billboard 200 and plummeted by over 75%. Nonetheless, the LP sold another 256K at #2 for a total of 1.29 million after only 2 weeks.
Meanwhile, on the United World Track Chart, Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’ remained at the top by selling 435K copies. The track has held the #1 position for 3 weeks.

this is gotten really ridiculous now. i like Adele and i’m happy that true talent is winning. her album isn’t all that so i don’t get why it’s selling like hot bread and butter. tired of the fake hype. give it a rest now people.
Ugh, what?
Come on, a “fake hype”? really? 10 millions around world! without marketing outside usa or UK. What do you suggest? a marketing campaing around the world to convince people Adele is just a “hype”? “Pleaaase people, don’t buy Adele anymore cause her album “isn’t all that” ? .
OMG let’s talk about envy and denial.
@ Ugh…and the church said AMEN…21 is good but it isn’t the greatest album EVER…Susan Boyle needs to hurry the hell up and unseat her. SMH
@ Ugh (AKA @ KD ) cope, dear
Susan Boyle? Really. Seats have to be had at this point.
More Kudos to Adele and even bigger kudos to Christina, she hasn’t seen this kind of success in quite some time.
i wonder why i would envy Adele….lmao
my fave > Adele ( & i like her, i guess you missed that part)
I can’t at people complaining about Adele’s success. Like Lil Wayne is more deserving of the top spot? Please. I can respect not liking Adele, but considering how 90% of the stuff on the charts is garbage, you would think some people would be glad about actual talent winning out.
