It really doesn’t seem fair to the less talented Pop stars in the industry that Adele has continuously denied them a shot at the top spots of the Billboard charts. Yet, it is certainly not her fault that US consumers have finally rediscovered their taste for real music.
Adele’s ’21′ album has notched an 18th nonconsecutive week atop the Billboard 200 by selling another 116K copies for a new total of 6.27 million. The album is slowly advancing toward the 20-week total run of Whitney Houston’s ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack and if it succeeds at surpassing that figure then it would become the longest-running #1 album of the SoundScan era (1991 to present).
Additionally, Adele also dominated the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Her latest single, ‘Set Fire to the Rain’, has claimed a 2nd frame in the lead position while bolstered by 118 million audience impressions and 167K digital downloads. However, Kelly Clarkson remained hot on Adele’s heels as her song ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’ leapt from #8 to #2.
