The-Dream has crafted monster successes for artists across the industry but his work with Mariah Carey has been hit or miss. However, despite the slow sales of her last studio album, ‘Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel’, which was co-produced by the outspoken hit-maker, Carey has enlisted his aid once again for her new project.
Carey has thus far recording material for her new album alongside Jermaine Dupri, Johnta Austin, Randy Jackson, Bryan-Michael Cox and even shared confirmed a track with R&B giant R. Kelly. Now, The-Dream has joined the list and her fans have forming prayer circles with the hope that the songs won’t sound similar to ‘Obsessed’.
Listen to one of Carey and The-Dream’s better songs, ‘H.A.T.E.U.’, below:

…I love Mariah but I want the Dream to stay away from her. I’m not impressed with him!!
Mariah, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I wish she would leave The-Dream alone! The last thing I do NOT want from her is “Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel… part two.”
Yes, you took the words right out of my mouth. Please Mariah, for the love of music. Just for the nostalgia, please don’t record with the dream!
BETCHA GON KNOW was an epic single that was not released.
Whyyyy? Mariah needs to work with Walter Alfransteiff or however you spell it. Her work with the dream is juvenile. “We can.catch up like tomato” <–
I’m ok with this, actually. As long as he only does one song (Betcha Gon’ Know, H.A.T.E.U., Standing O, Inseperable) I’m OK. The problem came with him doing a whole album.
Yes. I have to agree with you. He can do a few songs but not the entire album.
The-Dream’s work with Beyonce has always been up to par, especially on 4. I think she just needs another producer besides Tricky to produce it. Shea Taylor did an amazing job on “Countdown” and “End of Time” on Beyonce’s last album!
She has worked with Darkchild, QTip & Ray Angry as well as DJ Clue, JD/Cox, R.Kelly. Stevie J also stated on two occasions he was working on Mariah’s album. The Dream is now also confirmed.
this is not the move mariah
Mariah, nooooo! He’d better do one song and that’s ALL.
GOD FORBID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Calm down everyone. Let’s wait until we hear the actual song before prejudging. And as someone mentioned, if it’s just one or two songs that end up on the album it shouldn’t be a big deal.
When Mariah works with The Dream it either completely works or completely doesn’t. Not all the songs he did with her were bad so let’s hope for the best
I think the problem with mariah’s last album was she let the dream write most of it. Mariah only wrote maybe 3 or 4 of the tracks on there(H.A.T.E being one of them, well co-written) Now before people get all up in arms about mariah being credited as a co-writer on all songs, lets be honest here do we really think mariah would write up out my face? Do we think mariah would write its a wrap? The lyrical composition of many of the songs on her last album did not scream mariah wrote this, it had the-dream written all over it.
It’s a wrap is credited as Mariah and Barry White. Barry White’s contribution being the sample of I Belong To You. So it’s song almost solely written by Mariah. The Dream neither writes NOR produces it.
You Mariah stans kill me. How can ya’ll think someone who writes songs like The Roof, Breakdown, Stay The Night, H.A.T.E, etc. Would then turn around and write songs with such simple lyrics as Up Out My Face & It’s A Wrap? I’m not a stan but even I know Mariah’s writing style. How you go from “Images of rapture creep into me slowly” to “You might see me on a poster see me at a show, but you won’t see me for free this ain’t no promo”? Come on ya’ll!! Mariah wrote maybe only 3 to 4 tracks on the last album.
@sexicaliswagg, so you’re suggesting that not only did someone else write It’s a Wrap without Mariah’s input at all, as it completely doesn’t sound like her songwriting style, but they also allowed her FULL writing credit without even a cowriting credit? No one, let alone an established song-writer/producer like The Dream would give away a song for free, let someone else they claim they wrote the entire thing, let this person rake in all the songwriting royalties. It’s not like he would be gaining anything from allowing Mariah to claim his song as her own, especially when the rest of the songs credit the two as co-writers. And if Mariah had the power to take someone else’s song that they wrote and claim she wrote the ENTIRE THING why would she not do it with the other songs on the album? Why credit anyone at all? Why give away songwriting royalties?
You think the-dream doesn’t give a percentage of his song writing credit to artist? Do I need to bring up Beyonce? This conversation is over. Mariah is to good of a song writer to be writing ABC songs…Get over it, she didn’t write most of the material on her last album
But there’s a marked difference between giving up SOME of your song writing credit and giving it all up to someone who contributed zero. The difference with Beyonce is that The Dream is basically guaranteed a hit song, because ppl buy Beyonce’s songs just because she’s Beyonce, and he would make more money that way then giving it to some no name singer who would let him keep all the royalties. In contrast, It’s A Wrap was an album track that I’m fairly sure was NEVER in the running to be a single. Even if it was, by giving up all of the credit, he would gain nothing even if it became the biggest hit of her career.
He had a hit with Mariah’s Touch My Body & Mariah let him and Tricky do the whole album, plus she’s Mariah Carey, thats more than enough to let her share song writing credit with him. I never said Mariah didn’t write anything on the album, I said she didn’t write most of the album.
i think Memoirs was a good album. solid r&b.
I love Mariah… But slow sales? That album was no sales!!! There were good songs on that album. But The-Dream has a bad track record, when it comes to producing entire albums. (See “Memoirs”, “Basic Instinct” & “How To Be A Lady Vol. 1)
They work well together, I think…he gave Mariah some good tracks…but he better bring the heat…all these producers!
Isn’t Mariah tired flopping by now…geesh! Triumflop, Memoirs of an imperfect-flop, E=MC multiplied by flop
Memoirs was gold and E=MC2 was platinum. Touch my body from E=MC2 was her 18th number one.
Oh and Triumphant didn’t do well on the hot 100 but she did score her 16th number one dance track. Additionally, it did well in other countries around the world.
People need to stop calling artist flop’s
Mariah is working on the hits for the new album The-Dream, Tricky Stewart, made mariah Latest 18th’s number one single Touch My Body Now Hit Boy in the studio with MC! Go Get’em
Ummm…..iam worried.
