Did you know that Whitney Houston and Prince were both asked to participate in Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ project?
Houston was originally asked to sing ‘I Just Can’t Stop Loving You’ with Jackson but her label head, Clive Davis, refused the offer because he feared that it would result in overexposure for the then new artist. So, the role in the duet was given to Siedah Garrett, who also co-wrote ‘Man in the Mirror’.
Prince, on the other hand, was personally contacted by Jackson to play Wesley Snipes’ part in the ‘Bad’ video. However, the memorable opening line of the song – “your butt is mine” – made the icon uncomfortable. Watch Prince explain why he declined a spot in the ‘Bad’ video below:
