Did you know that Rihanna is listed as a songwriter in the credits of only one of her #1 hits?
‘Rude Boy’ is only song among Rihanna’s twelve Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles that she co-wrote. The Bajan is currently tied with Madonna and The Surpremes in fourth place among acts with the most chart-toppers. Madonna, however, co-wrote ten of her #1 songs whereas Mariah Carey, who is ranked first among solo acts with the most leading titles and second only to The Beatles (twenty), co-wrote seventeen of her eighteen hits.
Interestingly, late Whitney Houston wrote none of her eleven Hot 100 #1 singles but she did co-produce several of her songs, including the 1987 smash ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’. Watch the video for Rihanna’s chart-topper, ‘Diamonds’, below:

Well this doesn’t help some ppls puppet theory about her .. I don’t know she clearly doesn’t write nor cares too .. When you have the resources to some of the best producers and songwriters in the world and they’re making music for you that works I can’t really blame her .. Its makes sense to me because I don’t see rihanna as anything more than a trendy popstar not one of this generations future legends .. With the itunes generation really picking up steam now and the power of social media there are gna be more and more rihanna type artists coming around and breaking the records it took the mariahs and whitneys sweat and raw talent to set.

well, everyone isn’t meant to be a songwriter; however, she does pick her songs, so she does have some input into what her album(s) sound like. i just glad she doesn’t portray herself to be a songwriter, like some artists do. i’m not mentioning any names though.

But I do like how he tries to cover is SUPREME SHADE by mentioning Whitney did not write any of her top 100 singles-then balances it out by saying at least show co-produced them.
Whitney had the vocal to get away with it. Rihanna doesn’t. Plus Rih portrays this “boss bitch” type image yet doesn’t control anything in her career.
Exactly! I´m ok with an artist not songwriting if you are fucking Whitney houston or Celine Dion for example. You have huge talent for others things and you don´t act like you songwrite when you don´t. On the othe rhand, Rihanna is completely worthless and it seems she is pulling a Beyonce lately, including her name in more credits, when everyone knows they are not capable to songwrite a damn thing
SAY THAT! Rihanna is my girl but one thing that annoys me that she does is her little comments like your fave could never or that boss bitch attitude you’re talking about like girl you have no input in your music no writing, vocal arrangements or anything for that matter so your bragging rights only go so far. & she may be turning into Beyonce. Thats what eventually turned me off from Beyonce completely its one thing to say you contributed & co wrote but Bey has the nerve to say “I wrote” “When I wrote this” knowing she didnt write a damn thing like GIRL but Imma let them be great
the first time i heard Rude Boy i knew Rihanna “co-wrote” it. for example, “come here rude boy , can you get it up, come her rude boy is you big enough” has rihanna written all over it.
I appreciate things more when artists write their music….they have a sort of connection to it.
