Chrisette Michele continued to expand her audience with the release of a new song called ‘Fair Lady’ earlier today. Featuring Guitar Slayer, the track will appear on Michele’s upcoming ‘An Audio Visual Presentation: Audrey Hepburn’ mixtape, due for release on December 8th.
During my interview with Michele, revealed her desire to experiment with her sound as often as possible and ‘Fair Lady’ was the song she named as a perfect example of that drive:
“I get bored very easily so doing the same thing repeatedly tires me. You’ll probably hear me crossover from one sound to the next and I’m not sure if it will be Pop or Rock. On ‘Audrey Hepburn’, there’s a song called ‘Fair Lady’, which is another one of Aubrey Hepburn film titles, and it’s a straight Alternative/Rock song.”
Listen to Michele’s ‘Fair Lady’ below:
‘Fair Lady’ represents the type of diversity that R&B artists need to depict in 2012. Michele took a risk by venturing into Rock but her husky voice sounded perfect in contrast to the sharp guitar riffs, and the end result is a brilliantly crafted song. Honestly, Michele is moving forward with her music and thus far, she has made every step in the right direction.
