Leona Lewis has kept her fans on the edge of a cliff as they waited to hear her new material and today they have been given a reason not to jump. The songbird has finally released a new song from her long delayed ‘Glassheart’ album, ‘Trouble’.
Featuring Childish Gambino, ‘Trouble’ was written by Emeli Sande and produced by Naughty Boy as the latest single from Lewis’ ‘Glassheart’, which will be released on October 15th. The song is set to impact digital retailers in the UK on October 7th.
Listen to Lewis’ ‘Trouble’ below:
At first listen, it’s easy to assume that ‘Trouble’ probably won’t work as a strong single but it is actually perfect for UK radio. Yes, the production borders on the typical sound of Naughty Boy but that is exactly what makes the record so solid, aside from Lewis’ cleverly restrained vocal performance.
Still, regardless of how good ‘Trouble’ sounds, Lewis will need a massive promotional campaign to sell her ‘Glassheart’ album. There have been several delays of this project and many people have completely lost interest. In that case, I suggest treating the album as a completely new entity, labelling the previously released single, ‘Collide’, as a buzz track and developing a heartbreaking story that will make people care. Tears win sales every time. Well, unless you’re Trey Songz.
