The wonderful people Pepsi paid over $50 million dollars for Beyonce to be the ambassador of their brand yet both her new commercial for the campaign and the featured song, “Grown Woman”, are relatively low budget. Of course, don’t take my word for it. You need to see this for yourself.
Directed by Jake Nava, who helmed Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” and “Baby Boy” videos, the Pepsi ad depicts the entertainer embracing her past while simultaneously imitation Janet Jackson’s “Pleasure Principle” in a not so subtle fashion. Meanwhile, the Timbaland-produced “Grown Woman” plays in the background but provides nothing more than noise to the mix.
“Grown Woman” will appear on Beyonce’s new Mrs. Carter album later this year. I await confirmation of whether the LP will be available for half price with a Pepsi coupon, buy one get one free at H&M or if it comes with a bottle of L’Oreal conditioner. Watch Beyonce’s new commercial below:
