Bored people with nothing else to do on a Thursday night found a reason to watch ‘The X Factor (US)’ this evening. The show featured live performances by a pair of artists who could not be more different – the season one champion, Melanie Amaro, and Ke$ha.
It appears that the industry-wide sales slump isn’t only affecting R&B acts. Although she has one of the biggest hits of the year under her belt, Ke$ha’s new album, ‘Warrior’, is expected to start slow on the charts next week. In fact, sales predictions indicate that it will sell less than her previous effort.
Alicia Keys received some bitter sweet news when the US charts were announced earlier todday. Despite scoring her fourth #1 studio album on the Billboard 200 and replacing Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’ at the summit of the ranking, the diva garnered the lowest first week sales of her career.
Ke$ha’s new album, ‘Warrior’, is now in stores and she wants everyone to know. So, she ventured to the late night talk show ‘Conan’ to plug the record as well as perform the Billboard Hot 100 hit lead single, ‘Die Young’.
Before Ke$ha’s new album, ‘Warrior’, is released in the US on December 4th, it will debut internationally. Among the territories that will be treated with an early taste of the record is the UK, so she made an appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ to generate some much needed buzz.
The early sales predictions were accurate: Rihanna has scored her first #1 album on the Billboard 200 with her new set, ‘Unapologetic’. Yet, her reign didn’t end there as she also continued to rule the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Diamonds’, this achieving a truly impress feat.
When Ke$ha first teased her fans about the direction of her new album, ‘Warrior’, she indicated that it would be heavily influenced by 1970s Rock & Roll. However, most of the material released thus far, such as a new song called ‘Supernatural’, has been trendy Dance/Pop hits.
Time is certainly flying by and Ke$ha knows it! With the December 4th release date of her new ‘Warrior’ album looming on the horizon, the Pop star has issued a preview of the record, which includes productions by Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Shellback and others.
