Many people have forgotten that Kelly Rowland’s ‘Here I Am’ album is in stores so she has returned to the promotional trail. The songstress, who had not done a televised performance since July, delivered renditions of ‘Motivation’ and ‘Lay It On Me’ alongside Big Sean on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ last evening to remind her fans of the project.
Watch Rowland’s performances below:
Rowland’s live vocal performances continue to be a her main issue. Clearly lacking breath control, she struggled to sing ‘Lay It On Me’ and sounded a lot like her idol Whitney Houston circa 2010. However, Rowland definitely knows how to command her audience and she handled the choreography without looking stiff or forced.
Interestingly, given her vocal setbacks, it would be a excellent idea for Rowland to develop her dance skills. She was always the strongest dancer in Destiny’s Child and exploring that area of her talent would only help her to further distinguish herself from her former bandmates, especially if she decides to venture into Dance music fulltime.
Lol that awkward moment when you tell the crowd to sing along…and they all are just finding out you still have an album out and don’t know the words.
y’all can say what y’all want about Kelly, but that girl can DANCE and SANG. LOVE HERE I AM
Bad vocals on Lay It On Me. Better vocals and dancing on “Motivation.” She has potential to be great, but she probably needs better guidance.
resurfaces???
AWW!! Can’t Kelly buy one of those things that help straighten out her tone for live performances?!
iKnow Melanie Fiona says she refuses to perform live without one because she knows her live vocal is deep.
Kelly really needs one of those. The girl definitely commands the audience though. That’s why she was a fan fave during Destiny’s Child.
@kemp I disagree. She sounded good on “Lay It On Me” – the first video. The second video with “Motivation” is where she somtimes was off pitch.
Saw her in Toronto open up for Chris Brown a few weeks back on his FAME tour. She’s a good performer imo, in concerts.
This is nothing short of a catastrophe.
She KILLED ‘Motivation’. Loved it!! ‘Lay it on me’ was a bit breathy but that can be easily solved by singing while running on the spot. Her dancing was really good, i LOVED it!
Iam glad she did Kimmel. I think her album will do really well over in the UK because of the X Factor. She is killing it BIG TIME on that show. Plus, hoply being on the F.A.M.E tour will increase her sells like it has for Chris Brown.
Congrats Kelly!
Why the shade toward whitney, she could have pulled a mariah and pre recorded autotuned it to with an inch of its life and keep people thinking that she has any thing left of her once great voice.
I was more into her back-up dancers dancing lol. Damn they are hot
