New Video: Monica – ‘Until It’s Gone’

Following the special preview of Beyonce’s playful ‘Party’ video, Monica took things in a more dramatic direction with the release of ‘Until It’s Gone’. The emotional visual featured actors Malinda Williams and Brian White, whom helped to bring the powerful lyrics to life.

‘Until It’s Gone’ is the second single from Monica’s ‘New Life’ LP. The singer previously premiered a clip for the project’s lead single, ‘Anything (To Find You)’, last month.

That was a compelling visual that truly did the song justice. Monica underwhelmed with her ‘Anything (To Find You)’ video but ‘Until It’s Gone’ demonstrated what she could do when she goes beyond her comfort zone to create a production with an actual plot instead of taking the easy route with bright lights and shifting camera angles.

Only time will tell if Monica’s efforts will help her ‘New Life’ album to be a success. Interestingly, although she has been overlooked in the Soul Rhythm & Blues categories of the American Music Awards in the past, it would be great to see her onstage alongside the latest named performer, Mary J. Blige, to represent the true sound of the genre. Indeed, Monica is a much better candidate for the job than Rihanna, who has notched multiple nods in that field.

   Yass! Loves it Mo! This was so emotional, but enhanced the song well like you said Trent. And yes, thank you for pointing out Mo over Rih for these RB awards. Them putting her in there is a slap in the face to those who truly rep that category. Can’t wait for New Life!

   That was really emotional. I love video’s with a actual captivating story line. Something that is missing in todays music videos. Video’s are supposed to make the song better and bring the lyrics to life. I hope more people do this. Congrats!
