Beyonce & Jay-Z Rank High On 2012 Billboard Power Index
Beyonce and Jay-Z have been heralded as one of the entertainment industry’s power couples for several years and now they have the numbers to prove that their status has not only supported by propaganda. In fact, Billboard has compiled the 2012 Power Index and the duo have ranked higher than most of their peers.
Topped by Live Nation Entertainment head Irving Azoff, the Power Index list reflects those industry heavyweights who control the largest market share, Billboard chart data/boxscore and revenue. Beyonce and Jay-Z’s stats were combined so that the couple ranked at #13 on the list thanks to their record sales, endorsement deals and numerous business ventures.
Elsewhere, Epic Records boss LA Reid landed at #37 while his former Island Def Jem signee Lady Gaga placed at #84. Shockingly, Reid’s fellow ‘The X Factor (US)’ judge Simon Cowell was only positioned at #100 on the lineup.
