Kelly Clarkson Honors Etta James

Etta James succumbed to the effects of leukemia earlier this week and shocked the music industry with her sudden passing. Among those persons who mourned the Rock & Roll legend was Kelly Clarkson, who coincidentally earned a spot on her winning season of ‘American Idol’ because of her rendition of James’ ‘At Last’.

Honoring James’ memory in song, Clarkson belted a passionate rendition of ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ at Radio City Music Hall in New York City last evening. Why did she choose that particular tune instead of ‘At Last’? Well, the songbird declared, “this isn’t ‘At Last’ because everyone really covers that and so I wanted to do my favorite, actually. My favorite song is ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’.”

   Some performers can sing the song with just their voices, others need theatrics (machines, windfans, costumes). Fantastic job Ms. Kelly.

   WOW I love her rendition of I’d rather go blind. Kelly is an amazing vocalist, I wish her record label would let her have some ballads on her album that get to show her vocals but I guess it’s all about the charts.

    i think Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce and Christina Aguilera needs to do the tribute on Etta this coming friday. So much talent in one stage. i think they need to take the stage one by one so people could handle it. Apettize the audience with Kelly, create a momentum with Beyonce and reach the Climax with Christina Aguilera.
