Christina Aguilera had the privilege of performing a tribute to Etta James at her funeral and now another husky-voiced singer will get the opportunity to honor the late legend. Alicia Keys has been selected to celebrate the life and music of James at the 2012 Grammy Awards.
Alongside Bonnie Raitt, Keys was perform a tribute to James at the Grammy Awards, which will air live via CBS on February 12th at 8pm ET. Other entertainers who will rock the stage at the event include Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, the Foo Fighters, Adele, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry. Moreover, Nicki Minaj will debut a new song called ‘Roman Holiday’ from her upcoming ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ album.
Of course, Keys has performed at the Grammy Awards on several occasions. Watch her sing a stunning rendition of ‘Fallin” in 2002 below:
Can’t Wait!
Im excited and can’t wait to see this.
!!! Also, I will forever think that picture is just hot shit!
Her voice can’t handle this :S
omg the comment above
What in the world???
Trent really has an understanding of the human singing voice. I’m quite impressed. Trent I think you should do a segment on singers with the Voice(Christina) v.s singers with Vocal Talent(Beyonce).
I would of preferred Celine Dion do the Etta James tribute. Christina and Celine are the only 2 version that I like
As long as Alicia doesn’t sing “At Last”, I will be fine with it. I understand that that is the song that everyone knows from Etta but it will be great to hear other Etta songs, especially in a tribute.
I think Alicia needs a vocal coach more then anything.
