Kelly Clarkson sang a beautiful rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ at Super Bowl XLVI last weekend and now she is reaping the benefits of her efforts. Indeed, US consumers have responded her to voice and awarded her the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100.
‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’, which is the second single from Clarkson’s ‘Stronger’ album, has claimed the top slot on the Hot 100 and effectively ousted Adele’s ‘Set Fire to the Rain’. However, the latter artist is probably unbothered by the defeat because her ’21′ album has notched its 19th week atop the Billboard 200 thanks to a sales increase to 122K copies and achieved a new total of 6.39 million units.
However, while younger artists battled at the top of the charts, Madonna completely missed the top 10. The icon’s ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ (Ft. Nicki Minaj & M.I.A.)’ entered the lineup at #13. Yes, a top 20 debut is usually quite impressive for regular artists but the performance of ‘Give Me’ is grossly underwhelming considering the fact that Madonna delivered a high profile rendition of the tune at the Super Bowl.

WOW….how can u say Madonna missed the mark? Her debut was #13 and Kelly Clarkson’s song has been building momentum. She didn’t singer “Stronger” at the SuperBowl. Madonna has only had 4 top 20 debuts. This is a great achievement for someone as u put it “NOT CURRENT”… Go Kelly…glad to see u back on top!
death at kidS bop charting higher than Rihanna LMFAOROTFL!
Uhmm with all the hype and clear channel stations playing it every hour on the hour and the superbowl, i expected a #1 debut anything less is disappointing
@TheMan4u- u really don’t understand the charts.
That is great fro Madonna. She would have had to sale atleast 350-375k to get a number one because her airplay is just starting to build.
