New Song: Nelly – ‘Marry Go Round (Ft. Chris Brown)’

T.I. isn’t the only rapper determined to reposition the sound of the south at the top of the charts. One of the biggest-selling artists of the last decade, Nelly, has released a new song, ‘Marry Go Round’, which features none other than Chris Brown.

Produced by Da Internz, ‘Marry Go Round’ is the lead single from Nelly’s upcoming new album, ‘M.O.’, which will be released later this year. Listen to to club-banger below:

There is no question that ‘Marry Go Round’ has a back-bouncing beat and a catchy melody on the hook but the track is far too busy. From the recurring vocal to the bass and the drum effects, the song is almost confusing to follow and is rather jarring.

Perhaps Nelly was aiming for a socker with ‘Marry Go Round’ but I wonder if casual club-goers and radio listeners will be able to follow this tune? We’ll just have to wait for that answer and hopes things go in his favour because his last album, ’5.0′, was a commercial disaster. Nelly needs this ‘M.O.’ project to be a success.
