The third episode of ‘The X Factor (UK)’ premiered earlier today on ITV. Featuring judges Kelly Rowland, Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and Gary Barlow, this week’s installment once again focused on the auditions phase of the competition where hopefuls introduced themselves to the world.

Why was David Wilder allowed to advance to the next phase of the competition? Although his performance was quite enjoyable to watch, his vocals were flat for most of his showing.
Luke Lucas has a tone that is strikingly similar to Justin Bieber’s voice but unlike the latter he actually knows how to sing on key. Furthermore, Lemuel Knights has a very interesting voice and delivered several slick vocal runs that demonstrated that he has definitely been trained. However, it was obvious that his weight was constraining his performance.
Of course, the standout moment of the entire show came from Jade Richards who did a fantastic cover of Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’. Conversely, what made her rendition special wasn’t the vocal gymnastics of Lemuel. Rather, it was the passion that she brought to the song and the meaning she found in the lyrics.
This was yet another interesting episode. What needs to be noted, however, is that this season has yet to produce a powerhouse singer on the level of Alexandra Burke or Leona Lewis. See you next week!
