Many of us were hoping to kickoff 2013 on a high note but Mariah Carey went about an octave higher than any of us and completely stole the spotlight like a true diva. Dripping in diamonds and shining brighter than Rihanna, Carey launched the new year by performing a concert on the Australian Gold Coast.
Fans at the sold out Jupiters Hotel & Casino were thrilled to see Carey on Australian soil for the first time in over 15 years but of course, her really voice was the main attraction of the show. The songbird’s famous soprano was in fine form as she belted her monster hits “All I Want for Christmas is You”, “My All” and more.
However, the true highlight of Carey’s concert occurred when made digs at her stage crew for not being prepared and she sang the entire round of jabs perfectly on-key. Watch highlights from the Gold Coast show below:

Is Carey ready for a comeback in 2013? Judging by the clarity and power of her voice in these showings, the answer is an obvious yes! Maybe the idea of performing live on American Idol in front of the contestants that she will be judging has encouraged Carey to improve her game, and if that’s the case then we should all be grateful to the reality TV gods for their blessings.
